The Unique Aston Martin and Rally Stage Experience
Goodwood's racing links with Aston Martin date back to the 1950s, when the marque won a number of important races at the circuit, including back to back victories for Sir Stirling Moss in the classic Goodwood Tourist Trophy in 1958 and 1959, driving a DBR1. While Goodwood's connections with the world-leading motor sport organisation Prodrive are a little more recent, extending back to the very early days of the famed Festival of Speed in the early 1990s.
Following in the wheel tracks of Sir Stirling's DBR1, small, intimate groups of corporate users will experience first-hand the phenomenal acceleration, braking and cornering forces generated by the Aston Martin DBRS9 endurance racing car as it is put through its paces by a professional racing driver. Inspired by Aston Martin Racing's DBR9 Le Mans entry, the DBRS9 is a thoroughbred racing car used by professional motor sport teams around the world in international GT racing series.
Following this, guests themselves will have the opportunity to take to the helm of one of the very latest offerings from this iconic marque, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. First they will drive the car in standard production form. Then they will pilot one of Prodrive's specially-prepared V8 Vantages with enhanced engine performance to 425 bhp, two-way driver adjustable suspension, light-weight racing car-inspired forged wheels, and aerodynamic enhancements to improve high-speed handling.
Upon request, Goodwood can complete the Aston Martin experience by arranging for Sir Stirling to join the event in his original DBR1.
With pulses still racing, guests are transported up to the Goodwood Forest Rally Stage for the rally element of the Prodrive at Goodwood experience. The Goodwood Forest Rally Stage is a purpose-built facility, originally designed specifically for the Festival of Speed by rallying legend and former World Champion Hannu Mikkola.
As before, events begin with a thrilling demonstration by the professionals, this time experienced from the co-driver's seat of Prodrive's specially prepared Subaru Impreza Group N rally car. Powering sideways through the dense woodlands along the tight, twisty and loose-surface rally track, guests finally emerge into the sunlight at the top of the stage.
Once again, guests then take to the wheel themselves on a special course designed to test the power, handling and agility of the all-wheel-drive Subaru Impreza WRX STI, upon which the rally cars are based.
The modern Jackie Stewart Pavilion, with stylish Vitra furnishings, will offer all guests a comfortable base for their day at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, with unrivalled views from the balcony overlooking both the paddocks and track, including the iconic Goodwood chicane.
Altogether, Prodrive at Goodwood provides a unique combination of authentic racing, rally and high-performance road cars that simply can not be sampled anywhere else in the world.
Commenting on Prodrive at Goodwood, Festival of Speed founder, the Earl of March said, 'I am truly delighted to have Prodrive on board with this unique and exciting track day initiative. It is a real honour to be in partnership with such a world-class, professional motor sport organisation.'
This event is limited to a maximum of 20 guests per day and is only available for exclusive bookings.
